All About Hunter Gatherer Diet

Hunter gatherer diet also known as paleo diet can be described as a nutrition plan based on plants and wild animals which our ancestors, many many years ago (in the Paleolithic time), were used to eat. A modern paleo diet or hunter gatherer diet consists of nuts, roots, fish, meat etc. exclusive of any sort of processed and farm foods.

The basis behind the wide recognition of this diet is quite simple. Individuals in the Paleolithic period were healthy with a strong physique. They were free of illnesses like depression, arthritis, heart disease, diabetes etc. They had a clear eye sight and powerful teeth. All these diseases and over weight problem came when we moved to the current age. So, to get over these problems, why don’t we return to paleo diet.

A paleo diet should not contain any refined food and grains, beans, potatoes, dairy, sugar etc. that are obtainable from farms. The diet plan should include berries, meat, fish, fruits, nuts, roots etc. that hunter gatherers used to consume.

Hunter gatherer diet will lessen the calorie consumption and increase the vitamin consumption extensively. You can begin with having the paleo diet in the breakfast everyday. When the body gets used to that, you can start having it in all 3 meals.

A popular book on this diet called as the Primal Blueprint has been written by Mark Sisson, a former world class endurance athlete with a degree in environmental science. The primal blueprint diet plan is similar to the paleo diet. He also described in his book, some actions which are necessary to build a healthy and strong body like lifting heavy things, moving around slowly, lots of sleep etc. Things that hunter gatherers were used to do.

You’ll find thousands of diet plans available today and plenty are coming every month, nearly all of that have success rate below 10%. Going backward and adopting a hunter gatherer diet could be the one needed for you.
